Motion made its name with a simple promise: give it your tasks, it builds your schedule and rearranges it when the day slips. If you're on the fence, or looking for something else, here's what you need to choose.
What Motion does
Motion is an AI planning tool: calendar, projects, tasks, meetings and docs in one place. Its strength is the smart calendar, which automatically places your tasks into free slots based on their deadlines and priorities.
On pricing, its page shows at the time of writing (October 2026) a Pro AI plan at $19 per seat per month and a Business AI plan at $29, billed annually. A free trial is available.
Who is it for? Someone juggling many projects and tasks that are already identified, who wants the calendar to build itself, or a team that wants to track everyone's workload.

Why look for an alternative
Tasks have to be found first. A planner works on what you give it. But a large share of your actions arrives by email, buried in threads. If you have to copy them in one by one, the time saved melts away.
Budget and scope. Motion is a full project management platform. If you work alone and what you need is to know what to do today, you pay for a lot of features you won't use.
Data. As with any tool that sees your calendar and tasks, check the hosting and the data processing agreement. Our AI email assistant GDPR checklist lists the questions to ask.

Virtus Lever: from emails to actions, then to your calendar
Virtus Lever starts from the other end. It reads your emails and notes read-only, extracts the actions to take, sorts them in an Eisenhower matrix, and its Domino algorithm names, every day, the one that unblocks the rest. It's the method from how to turn emails into tasks, automated.
Then auto-scheduling fits those actions around your meetings, mornings for deep work if that's your rhythm. Lever also tracks follow-ups, and your personal assistant answers questions from your emails and documents.
Your data is hosted in the EU and a DPA is available. You keep your current email and calendar.

How to choose
Pick Motion if you run projects with an already clear task list, want a calendar that reorganises itself, and need team features (workload, dashboards, Gantt).
Pick Virtus Lever if your actions mostly arrive by email, you want them found and ranked for you, and one clear priority a day matters more than a full project management suite.
The simplest way is to try: Lever lets you start for free. For more on planning, read our piece on time blocking for email.
