SaneBox has been around for years and takes a quiet approach: it doesn't replace your email client, it files away what can wait in the background. Before you subscribe, or if you're looking for something else, here's what to know.

What SaneBox does

SaneBox connects to your inbox, with most providers, and moves secondary messages into dedicated folders: SaneLater for what can wait, SaneBlackHole for senders you never want to hear from again. It adds follow-up reminders and a daily digest of what was filed.

On pricing, its page shows at the time of writing (October 2026) three plans: Snack (1 account, $4.54 a month), Lunch (2 accounts, $7.46) and Dinner (4 accounts, $22.04), billed every two years. A free trial is available.

Who is it for? Someone whose inbox is flooded with newsletters and notifications, who wants a readable inbox again without changing habits.

Why look for an alternative

A tidy inbox isn't finished work. Clearing the noise helps, but the important messages are still messages. You still have to read them, understand what's expected and decide where to start.

The actions stay inside the emails. A quote request, a date to confirm, a decision to make: SaneBox leaves them where they are. Pulling them out and ranking them is up to you, as explained in how to turn emails into tasks.

Data. To sort, SaneBox needs access to your inbox. As with any service connected to your email, check the hosting and the data processing agreement with our AI email assistant GDPR checklist.

Virtus Lever: from sorting to action

Virtus Lever sorts too: newsletters and notifications move to the background. But it goes further: it reads your emails and notes read-only, extracts the actions to take, ranks them in an Eisenhower matrix, and its Domino algorithm names, every day, the one that unblocks the rest.

It tracks follow-ups, can place your actions in your calendar, and your personal assistant answers questions like “where are we on the Martin quote?” from your emails and documents.

You keep Gmail, Outlook or any IMAP address. Your data is hosted in the EU and a DPA is available.

How to choose

Pick SaneBox if your main problem is the volume of secondary email, you want a cheap, invisible fix, and you already know what to do with the important messages.

Pick Virtus Lever if, once the noise is gone, you still don't know where to start: you want the actions found and ranked, and one clear priority suggested every day.
